This is not an obsolete skill. There are still delivery vans that can deliver milk to the home on a regular basis. However, Milk is no longer delivered in plastic bags or glass milk bottles. It's delivered in a standard format. (ie. Plastic jugs or cartons)
Calder's Dairy in SE Michigan still delivers milk in glass bottles. One places the empties back in the delivery box to be cleaned and re-used.
As of 2008, Dairyland in Calgary, Alberta still offers home delivery service. However, in some parts of the states, Milk delivery is no longer offered due to 24/7 convenience stores.
