PDP-1 Assembly Language Programming
| Field | Computer Programming |
| Went Obsolete | About 1965 |
| Made Obsolete By | The PDP-8 |
| Knowledge Assumed | Normal (for the time) assembly language programming skills |
| When useful | There may be a working DEC PDP-1 in a museum somewhere. If so, a person with this skill could write new software for it. |
The PDP-1 was an 18-bit computer with 4,096 addressible words, later extended to 16,384. It was a load/store instruction set, similar to the PDP-8. There were only about 55 PDP-1s made, in contrast to the PDP-8, which completely replaced it in the marketplace.
