Since its inception in 1981, DOS has been an inspiration to millions, lowering the bar for end-user expectations for technology for nearly 30 years since its creation.
DOS was obsolete nearly twenty years before it was released, but the 16-bit personal computers of the time could not meet the demanding requirements of other systems like Unix.
