Let's face facts. I personally talk to more people via sms and the internet than actually talking to them. I know people who will sit in the same room and talk in this manner. What happened?
There is a widespread theory, ironically on the Internet, that sms and digital conversations are replacing the art of everyday interaction. As well as decreasing the frequency of person to person interaction, the practise of text messaging and messenger style chats has resulted in the creation of text messaging lingo, and 'L337 speak'. There is also a similar theory about the increase in personal audio devices, (cd, tape and mp3 players) and it's effect on human interaction.
